Como parte del programa de estudios de la Universidad EARTH, los estudiantes de tercer a\u00f1o deben realizar una pasant\u00eda de 15 semanas. La experiencia <\/em>laboral suele ser una oportunidad para abrir sus horizontes y darles una pincelada \"vida real\"<\/p>

Siguiendo los elementos del \u00e9xito de Transformando la Educaci\u00f3n Superior, el Instituto Tecnol\u00f3gico Superior de Hopelch\u00e9n ha aprovechado esta oportunidad para intercambiar conocimiento, y desde 2019 abre sus puertas para aquellos estudiantes que quieran ser parte la experiencia.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Este a\u00f1o, tres estudiantes de la promoci\u00f3n 2021, Erwin Burgos (Belice); Kendal Calvo (Costa Rica) y Jeremy G\u00f3mez (Costa Rica), realizaron su pasant\u00eda en el ITSH, aprovechando al m\u00e1ximo la oportunidad a pesar de las dificultades que ha representado el contexto de la pandemia.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Erwin es originario del sur de Belice, una zona reconocida por el cultivo de c\u00edtricos como naranja y toronja. En Hopelch\u00e9n, su trabajo ha consistido en la creaci\u00f3n de un banco de forraje en el que se cosechen plantas que funcionen como comida para el cerdo pel\u00f3n mexicano (Sus scrofa domesticus)<\/em>), una especie muy querida y en riesgo de extinguirse. Al llegar a M\u00e9xico, Burgos observ\u00f3 que los encargados de alimentar a los cerdos ten\u00edan que trasladarse largas distancias para conseguir la comida, por lo que la adaptaci\u00f3n del terreno significar\u00eda un enorme ahorro de tiempo y recursos, mientras los animales reciben una alimentaci\u00f3n nutritiva.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Por su parte, Kendal se encuentra trabajando en la producci\u00f3n de miel (una de las pr\u00e1cticas m\u00e1s importantes de la zona) y en la creaci\u00f3n de un huerto.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

En el huerto, Kendal est\u00e1 haciendo un mandala con diferentes semillas criollas proporcionadas por las se\u00f1oras de la comunidad, entre estas se encuentran sand\u00eda, pepino, ma\u00edz, mel\u00f3n, frijol, ajonjol\u00ed y m\u00e1s. El trabajo que se realiza en el huerto tiene como objetivo convertirlo en un banco de semillas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Finalmente, Jeremy se est\u00e1 enfocando en la producci\u00f3n de catarinas o mariquitas(Coccinella septempunctata)<\/em> para control biol\u00f3gico: control de reproducci\u00f3n, dietas, conteo de huevecillos, condiciones controladas, temperatura y realizaci\u00f3n de balances econ\u00f3micos en diferentes cultivos de la zona para saber si se necesita aplicar alg\u00fan agroqu\u00edmico o si se puede tratar de manera natural.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cEn EARTH nos ense\u00f1aron a pensar con criterio propio. Cuando llegu\u00e9 aqu\u00ed expuse las razones por las cuales el banco de forraje deb\u00eda de componerse de varias especies. Logr\u00e9 capacitar a otros estudiantes y entendieron los beneficios de la implementaci\u00f3n. Algo que me llevo de ac\u00e1 es el pensamiento emprendedor de las personas que viven aqu\u00ed y c\u00f3mo logran diversificar sus ingresos. Los miembros de la comunidad no se quedan solo con una cosa que hacer, y siempre buscan la mejor manera de trabajar y generar negocio\u201d.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

\u201cEn estos cuatro a\u00f1os las pr\u00e1cticas nos han preparado para llegar al mundo real. La universidad nos ha preparado para ser proactivos y entender la problem\u00e1tica de los lugres donde llegamos y las oportunidades hasta sin darnos cuenta. \u201cYo siempre supe que quer\u00eda hacer la pasant\u00eda en un tema que me interesara, sin importar donde fuera. Afortunadamente, en el simposio de pasant\u00edas que hacen en EARTH vi al compa\u00f1ero que estuvo antes que yo en Hopelch\u00e9n y me interes\u00e9 demasiado en venir aqu\u00ed. Todos los objetivos que ten\u00eda fueron cumplidos y gan\u00e9 una experiencia enriquecedora tanto para mi carrera profesional como en el \u00e1mbito personal\u201d.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>
